Simple Note today π
If you want to show all your bibliography citations even without making a proper citation in the text the solution is simple.
Simply add the reference you want to be shown under \nocite{reference}
This way, the bibliography will contain the reference you specified.
The down of it is if you have 200 entries not quoted… π
Update:
If you have indeed 200 entries π just enter \nocite{*} and all of them will be there. Credits to ashley.

If you have 200 entries not quoted you can do \nocite{*}
This solution doesn’t work for me ..
That’s odd… Try these steps to see if it helps :):
1)See if you got the .bib file in the same directory
2)Check for \bibliography{} on your main document
3)Compile one time for latex, then bibtex, then two times for latex.

perfecto thanx
Excellent site, keep up the good work
Thanks, found you with google while writing a Uni Essay, I knew there was a way!!

you have probably found out that with \nocite{*} ALL the references will be shown..
However the main problem is that they will all have a number next to it although in the document you might have cited 4-5.
Does anyone know how to include the rest (not the cited ones) of the references without a number appearing next to them?
Ideally I would like to have one .bib file that would produce a number for the cited in the document and no number for the rest
I can’t give an answer to that. I suppose having two .bib files, that would be possible by including different styles for each of them, but with one .bib only, i have no clue.
I hope someone can answer you π

Hello \notice{*} does not work for me. If I do \cite{author} the citation shows on the bibliography with no problem…. Where should I add \notice{*}? I hope you can help.. thanks…
Hi!
Just a quick correction, its not \notice{*}, its \nocite{*} π
To use this command, add it near your bibliographic entry for instances.

thank you so much π
saving hours of trouble
I know this is old, but I thought maybe someone was still paying attention. I am interested doing the opposite. I want to cite an article, but I do not want to show a bibliography. It seems that if I don’t include \bibliography{filename} in my tex file if won’t find anything I am citing (since it doens’t know what bibfile to look in), but I don’t want to show the bibliograpy or have it in my table of contents.
I found the bibentry package which does exactly what I asked about.
Thanks!
Man you are the best !
